? for chinese characters in HTML NOT database or POSTS

  • Hello,

    My site is a non-wordpress site and has english and chinese characters. They all display correctly.

    On one section page of the site I have integrated wordpress.
    All the chinese character display fine in the posts and anything database related… however the chinese characters in my html (just my nav bar and my headers) display as “black shaded diamond question marks” ??
    If I view the source of the page they appear as ?? there too.

    I don’t understand why this is happening because the header is set to:
    <meta http-equiv=”Content-Type” content=”text/html; charset=UTF-8″ />
    which is the same as all of my non-wordpress pages… why is the html being coverted into ???

    I have only been trying to get the chinese characters to work on the index page so far.

    Any help much appreciated.
