• Whats wrong? Now, every time I save my post, or update it in “visual mode” the html for my footnotes is stripped. They work or ‘stick’ only if the post is updated in HTLM mode. I am using the latest version of WordPress. It is the same whether I use Windows Live Writer or Scribefire.

What gives? This needs to be fixed.

  • Donlt try to add HTML markup using the Visual Editir. That’s what the HTML tab is forr. Don’t switch edting tabs either. Pick a tab and stick to it.

I am sorry but this is really bad for me as a researcher.

Ive tried what you say, and it now strips the html. Or, the numbers look like they are hypertexted, but they do nothing.

    here is what happens:

I use Live Writer as its the best for footnotes for me:

    It creates the following:

    1

If I move to visual mode, that gets converted to this:

    1

I dont even know if the code will appear here when I hit post.

I tried searching the archives for any solutions previously posted. I found one, but I do not understand it. I am a historian, not code writer/reader.

The problem with staying in only the html mode is that you lose most of the editing features found under visual which I use a lot like, underline and move text left, etc.

Please, I would like to get a fix to this.

    Sigh….

Ive replaced < and > with underscore
    Liverwriter:

    _a href=”#_ftn1_8545″ name=”_ftnref1_8545″__sup_1_/sup__/a_

    becomes:

    _a name=”_ftnref1_8545″ href=”#_ftn1_8545″__a__sup_1_/sup_

    hey KM,

I installed that plugin, and its there in the right directory, its activated, but nothing, nada, still the same old editing features. So it looks like that is a bust.

Given these sorts of bugs, Ive talked to my computer tech friend and, at his suggestion, he is looking into other blogger programs. The footnotes have been working fine for 3+ years now, and then suddenly they stop working.
