My Terms & Conditions link (in my footer) leads to a different page when using a mobile device vs a desktop setup. The mobile version goes to my “Coming Soon” page (I’m not live yet with WooCommerce), the desktop version goes to the correct T&C page. Why is this?

I’ve checked WC Settings -> Advanced setup for the Terms and Conditions and it is pointing to the correct live version of this page. Why does the mobile version go to the “Coming Soon” page?

    Hi @anim8tr ,

Thanks for reaching out. It looks like you’ve covered the basics well by checking the WooCommerce Settings > Advanced for the Terms and Conditions page. I’ve also reviewed the system status report, and everything seems to be configured correctly. No immediate red flags that could cause the mobile redirection issue are present.

Since the issue differs on mobile, it might be caused by a mobile-specific setting or a cache issue. Here’s what you can do:

    1. Ensure your ‘Coming Soon’ mode is not accidentally activated for mobile users or through a mobile detection plugin.
    2. Visit your site on a mobile device in incognito mode to bypass any local caches.
    3. Confirm your plugins and theme are fully updated – they can sometimes cause unexpected behavior when outdated.
    4. Review your site’s .htaccess file or any redirection rules that might be device-specific. If you made modifications before.

Let me know how it goes.

Thank you for the suggestions. I double-checked all of the settings you mentioned and did not find any plug-in or setting that would redirect a mobile based T&C link to a “Coming Soon” page OR any mobile specific setting that would do this.

I even disabled all WC payment plug-ins, cleared my cache and retried to no avail. Lastly I copied the link to the “Coming Soon” content that I am redirected to (when clicking on the T&C link on a mobile device) and tried that same link on my desktop. On my desktop it shows the correct T&C content, not the Coming Soon content. Not sure what the trigger is for “Coming soon” on the T&C page, but it’s still not working correctly when using a mobile device.

It’s possible that I should just have different T&C content for a content only site vs a site with content and commerce until I go live with WC…

Hi @anim8tr, thanks for the additional info. I had another look at your site from both a desktop and mobile browser. For me, both version linked to /terms-and-conditions/ and both showed the Great things are on the horizon page.

It’s possible the difference is between being logged in as the Admin (such as you may be on your desktop device) and not. The Admin won’t be redirected so that they can see the content while working on it. Meanwhile, non-logged-in visitors will be redirected.

    You can test this theory;

    1. On your desktop: launch an incognito/private window so that you’re not logged in. I would expect that, in that window, you are now also redirected to the coming soon page.
    2. On your mobile: log into your site. Can you now access the content the same as on your desktop?

Let us know what you find.

    Thread Starter anim8tr

    (@anim8tr)

Thanks for that suggestion. I logged in as an Admin on my mobile device and you are correct, the T&C page showed up as created. After logging out, that url went back to showing the “Coming Soon” content. What I’m hoping for is to NOT show the “Coming Soon” content for the live T&C page. I have not tested this on my desktop yet because I’m out of town right now. I’ll check that out in a few days.

Hi @anim8tr, glad you at least solved why you’re seeing two different types of content.

I don’t recognise any of your plugins as ones that add coming soon features. WooCommerce itself has a Coming Soon Mode, but it doesn’t quite sound like what you’re experiencing. Follow that link to check the settings, just to be sure.

Other sources of Coming Soon content could be

    • your theme
    • a page builder
    • specifics settings of a block used in the content of the T&C page
    • template overrides

If you checked all of the above and still can’t find where its coming from, then a conflict test will be needed. Here’s how to test for plugin and theme conflicts.

Let us know what you find!

    Thread Starter anim8tr

    (@anim8tr)

Sorry for the delayed response. I’m finally at home where I can test the logged-in Admin settings on a desktop and mobile device. I do see different content when I am logged in. Both desktop and mobile devices DO act the same whether or not I’m logged in as an Admin or not.

That said, it’s only the Terms and Conditions page that is acting differently if logged in as an Admin. The Privacy Policy content always shows regardless of if I’m logged in or not.

I reviewed the URL you sent (“Coming Soon Mode“). In this, both pages (PP and T&C) are considered Store Pages, but it’s only the Terms and Conditions page that shows up with the Coming Soon (if NOT logged in). So there’s also different behavior between both those pages regardless of Mobile vs Desktop.

Is it possible to make the T&C page a non-Store page so that it shows up without Coming Soon content?

    Hi there!

I checked the shop page on your site, and it appears that the default shop page, https://www.chipjonesstudio.com/shop/, is currently set to a “Coming Soon” mode, as are all store pages. It seems like you have set the term and condition page as store page which is why that page is appearing as coming soon too. I also noticed that you’re using a different link for shop pages: https://shop.chipjonesstudio.com/.

To remove your Terms & Conditions page from the “Coming Soon” mode, you’ll need to remove it from the designated store pages. Here’s how:

    1. Go to WooCommerce → Settings.
    2. Click on the Advanced tab.
    3. Under Advanced, find the Terms & Conditions page setting and remove the selected page by clicking the “X” icon, as shown in this screenshot https://go.screenpal.com/watch/cZXh2lncCbl
    4. Click Save Changes.

Let me know if this resolves the issue!

All very interesting. My live Shop IS currently at shop.chipjonesstudio.com, so the link you mentioned (/shop) is not too critical at this point. I’ll do a DNS change when needed.

What I am trying to do is create a WooCommerce site behind the scenes and then have that go live when that’s all done. Maybe I should be doing all of my behind the scenes work on a staging server ?? (duh!)

    Here’s a polished version:

    Hi there!

Thank you for the update! It sounds like you’re on the right track with building out your WooCommerce site in the background before making it live.

I’ve checked the Terms & Conditions page, and everything seems to be working fine now. Could you confirm if the issue with it redirecting to the “Coming Soon” page is resolved?

If everything’s all set and you need further assistance with any other issues, please feel free to create a new ticket for each topic. We’re here to help!

    Thank you!

    (@anim8tr)

Yes, the original redirect issue to the “Coming Soon” page is resolved, but only because I have disabled WooCommerce on my live site. I’ll continue to work on this content on my Staging server.

That said, I haven’t tested your suggestion in your post above though. It sounded like it should work, but because I’ve now moved my test site to a staging server I haven’t tested it.

Thank you for everyone’s help on this though. It’s wonderful to see such a responsive group !!!
