• Customizing my 2017 footer and discovered that the url links in both footer widgets and urls for social media icons (except mail) are disabled (when I hover over any of those a ban-icon appears). Tried removing all custom CSS but did not make any difference. Any ideas what would cause this and a fix for it?? Thanks!!

Try deactivating all of your plugins to explore whether any could be responsible.

Just got an XSS alert when trying to make change to one of the social media urls (not disabled) in the footer. Am concerned maybe came from a plugin I installed and ‘deleted’ today. Any way to know if that could be the cause of disabled urls and a disabled contact form? Would cleaning files from this ‘deleted’ plugin from the database clean xss? Thanks.

I’ve not seen your disabled links problem before for the Twenty Seventeen theme so no I don’t think it’s related to the social media URLs. Have you tried deactivating all of your plugins?

If you’re saying the XSS alerts are coming from a plugin you need to ask this to the plugin authors.

I’m not sure it was triggered by the plugin, just trying to run down possible leads. Is there any other way to identify the source of this problem – all the urls in my footer and the contact form are disabled in addition. I’m not really knownledgeable about things of this sort so any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Was contacted by the plugin author and he said he’s not received any reports of XSS using his plugin. I also disabled all plugins and no change in situation.
