Footer disappeared & sidebar widgets are not showing on site

I have searched through forums and can’t find an answer so I hope someone can help me.
Last night I was removing some widgets and putting in new ones when my site stopped showing all the widgets except Categories and the top text widget. I can add widgets in the admin section but they don’t show on the site. I recently downloaded the post layout plugin, I don’t know if that has anything to do with it. My footer has also disappeared all together. I have a godaddy hosted wordpress blog that is about a month old with elegant grunge theme and I’ve not had these problems before.
