• I am using the Athena Pro theme by SmartCat. It provides an option for a “footer” image to load at the bottom of a page, and can scroll content over that area in a parallax manner. It also has a responsive design for different screen sizes.

If I install a FooGallery on a page with a footer, the footer image does not load properly initially: it shows up at maximum size (regardless of the size window I have open) and it loads just behind the first rows of the image gallery, rather than at the bottom of the page.

However, if I manually resize the screen, the page snaps back into the proper rendering, and it stays properly rendered until I reload the page: then the problem manifests again.

I’ve posted a video of the error and demonstrate how manually resizing the window temporarily fixes it, here: https://youtu.be/SwteVa_JXP8

You can attempt to recreate the error here: https://brentplater.org/photos/glacier-national-park/

Smartcat believes this is a FooGallery coding issue. Can you help me with this conflict?

    Hi

We hide the gallery until all images are loaded. That is the reason why you are getting the error. It is because the theme is calculating the page height when the gallery is not visible. Can you provide me the full reason Smartcat believes this is a FooGallery issue? Did they let you know the full reasoning, or are they just guessing it is a “Foogallery coding issue”?

The did not provide a full reasoning at the time. I sent your response to Smartcat, and here is what they said:

Its not an error on FooGallery’s part – just seems to be a simple issue of the two products not being compatible. Because their gallery is coded not to appear until fully loaded, our page is loading without it. The functions of the theme and the free plugin don’t sync up. This happens with third party software.

So it appears that both products have these features, and do not think of them as bugs, but that the two features may not be compatible. If it is possible to easily make them compatible that would be quite useful, however. Please let me know if that might be possible.

I think I have a fix that will work for you. Let me code up something quick and send you a download link to test out

Please try this new version : https://github.com/fooplugins/foogallery/archive/develop.zip

It should force a resize event after the gallery has loaded, which your theme will respond to and adjust the layout.

I think this worked. I uploaded it as a new plugin. I now have two FooGallery plugins active on my dashboard. Should I deactivate one of them?

    Thank you!
