    Hi there,

I want to use FooGallery with FooBox for the Galleries on my page. The Problem is – the gallery loads pretty fast, but once you click on an image to view in the FooBox Lightbox it loads for every image. The certain gallery (also my biggest) has currently 66 images, which I don’t find to be so much.
Do You have any idea what the reason for that could be?

    Thanks in advance!

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi

I had a look at your site. The images are around 800K and are taking about 4 seconds to load for me. This can be tested by opening the images in a new tab and not loading them in FooBox.

Behind the scenes, FooBox loads the images exactly the same way the browser would load the image, and then displays it. What I mean by this, is that FooBox can only load the images as fast as the actual images take to load

Thanks for testing and commenting! Meanwhile I resaved the images and now they’re around 100-200 kb. But it doesn’t really feel a lot quicker.
How big (in kb) should an image be, in order to be displayed fast? Please consider, that the images also must be displayed on big monitors and need some decent resolution and format.

    Thanks in advance once more!

I think higher res images are better for larger screens, but your image loading times will be the same no matter which lightbox you are using.

FooBox only displays the image once it is fully loaded, so perhaps you are used to using a lightbox where you can see the image loading?

Maybe, I don|t really know. I planned on using the Supsystic Gallery, which I also bought. In the end however, I was very pleased with the gallery results on pc, but wasn’t really happy with the mobile optic, so I decided to use the FooGallery with the FooBox. I really like both and I don’t think it’s them, that are foulty.
I just can’t imagine someone wanting to see the loading ‘wheel’ for every next image. That’s not really a pleasent and smooth experience, is it? Maybe my images are still too big – they’re about 2000×1000 px, saved with the ‘middle’ ‘Save for Web’ option from Photoshop. Can I do any better there?

    Thank You for all answers!
