Fonts not removed – theme Basico Dark

I can’t find an open-source copy of the theme online so I’m unable to test the plugin against it. Sorry about that.

Thanks for checking. I did some digging and while the theme was removed from the internet (not updated/supported since 2012 apparently), there is a copy still available in The Internet Archive at:

THis is a copy from the website of the original developer. I don’t know what your policy around obtaining the template this way is but just wanted to give it a try ??

The theme listed doesn’t reference Google Fonts, so either that changed in later versions or your Google Font references are coming from a plugin.

@dannycooper Sorry for not veryfying myself, you’re right, must have been implemented in a later version.

My version of the theme has the line

<link rel=”stylesheet” type=”text/css” href=”https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Open+Sans&subset=latin-ext&#8221; />

in header.php and when I remove it, the fonts on the website change (in a bad way ;)). Is there a manual solution / howto / manual I could try to implement to get rid of Google-originating fonts and replace them with self-hosted version or browser/system-based fonts?

Once you have removed that line from header.php you will just need to do a find and replace in the style.css for ‘Open Sans’ and replace that with a system font-family. Here’s a list of system fonts – https://fontsplugin.com/web-safe-system-fonts/
