ok, so the standard font for my site’s theme is Lato, which is a sans serif font. i had to upgrade the bluehost server from shared to VPs hosting a couple days ago. before then, all the fonts were fine. but, after migration, the fonts look different on the live site. i’m not sure which font it is, but the live site has some serif font which definitely isn’t Lato. but what’s weird is that, once i go to edit the site, it shows the correct font — Lato — in the editor, just not on the live site. i’ve tried publishing it multiple times and it won’t update. I’ve also tried changing the font to others and publishing and it updates to different fonts immediately, but once i switch it back to Lato and publish, it’ll still show whatever serif font that shows up. i tried calling bluehost tech support and they couldn’t figure out how to fix it. anybody got any ideas?

  • Open the web browser’s console. You will see several errors, including the fonts not being found (404)

Check the path to the fonts, and fix any url/path

“oh my god, i finally got it fixed. I was trying to delete the fonts folder under the migration folder rather than the public_html folder smh thank god. so, to be clear: if you’re using bluehost, you don’t even need to use FTP to fix this. log in, obviously, then go to advanced > file manager > public_html > [website name folder] > wp-content > and delete the folder that says ‘fonts’ under there. then, go to your website and add [ /?action=kirki-rest-cache ] to the end of it and the folder will be redownloaded automatically and the fonts should all fix on your site. thanks for the great plugin!”
