Font awesome icons disappear on mobile devices

My website (effectivechinese.net) provides materials that help people who are studying Chinese. The website is designed to be mobile accessible, by allowing columns to stack. When viewed on a laptop the font-awesome works fine. If you squeeze it down to a mobile form-factor, the icons remain visible. However, when the site is viewed on a mobile device, the icons just disappear. I am wondering why it happens, and how to fix it. Do you have any ideas why the icons disappear.
