    Hi
I have a problem with Font awesome icons on several sites (all built with Beaver Builder): They keep disappearing from any module I use them in. Or rather: They show up just after clearing the Hummingbird cache, but a moment later they’re replaced with a placeholder rectangle.
It happens on several sites, like here (using Astra theme):
    https://hamangskogen.no/tips/
Checking the source I see that it tries pull the needed css from the uploads folder.
    – The Beaver settings are correct (using FA 5)
    – Reinserting any icon doesn’t help
    – In Hummingbird’s asset optimizing settings, Hummingbird has left FA untouched/uncompressed
    – Beaver support couldn’t help (rarely happens…)
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Hey @kjetilgf,

    Hope you’re well.

On your page I am still seeing your font awesome CSS file minified, are you sure you exclude it correctly? After deactivating options for font awesome CSS file you need to save changes and clear page caching from Hummingbird.

Also, if you are using any other caching, you need to purge them too.

    Cheers,
    Oguz

Thanks for coming back to me, Oguz
I believe I’ve set things correctly in the assets optimizations settings – or have I misunderstood something? If so, what should I change?
    Please see screenshots:

I also wondered if I should add FA support by adding for instance
    //maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/font-awesome/latest/css/font-awesome.min.css
in the Advanced settings (Prefetch DNS requests)

    By the way:
    – After switching to Asset optimization > Assets > Advanced mode I tried to exclude the Font Awesome files – presumably from Hummingbird handling them. But there is no way to save the new settings, as the Publish changes button remains grey.
    Please see https://www.dropbox.com/s/2x069q6zl0nk4uu/Hummingbird-Font-awesome4.png?dl=0
After trying to recheck files or clearing cache, the FA files are once again included (toggle blue).
    – Deactivating Asset optimization solves the FA problem. (Have left it like that now)
    Thanks,
    Kj

    Hi @kjetilgf,

But there is no way to save the new settings, as the Publish changes button remains grey.

I’ve added this as a bug and will provide a fix for this in an upcoming update.
Please note when you use the exclude button it will stop the file from loading on your site.
Please try turning off compression for the fontawesome file (compression button will be white – https://snag.gy/GS8xrl.jpg) then publish the changes, if you’re using page caching please clear the cache and then check your site to see if font awesome is loading.

    Cheers,
    Calum

    Hi
Thanks for reporting the bug – and for clearing up what toggling off the exclude button actually means.

At the end here, the problem is solved – I post the details anyway:

After turning on Asset optimization again, only one FA asset appears
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/kkdmru88lcs8g7r/Hummingbird-Font-awesome5.png?dl=0
But as you will see down left in the screenshot there might be an explanation to this issue: While Beaverbuilder supports (and is set to use) FA 5, the FA script Hummingbird handles is FA 4.7
I first thought it came from the URL I added to Hummingbird’s Advanced settings > Prefetch DNS Requests: //maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/font-awesome/latest/css/font-awesome.min.css – but the 4.7 script remains even after removing the URL.
FA 4 and 5 are incompatible with each other.

After removing the URL, “font-awesome-5” reappears in the assets’ list:
AND it is possible to “Publish” after turning compression off here.
To make this possible the Advanced mode must be turned on, as here:
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/pn5ydme0sk2bc4s/Hummingbird-Font-awesome7.png?dl=0

I’ve tested also on a couple of other sites, and now it works.
    Thanks,
