After moving from a WordPress.com blog (modflowers.wordpress.com) to a self-hosted WordPress blog at https://www.modflowers.co.uk I transferred all my followers – nearly 600 of them, which seemed to work.
I didn’t close my WordPress.com blog down, or pay to have people redirected, I simply left a goodbye message and link as my final post.
However, recently a magazine featured me and mistakenly printed my old, WordPress.com blog address rather than my new self hosted one, so I set up a redirect from the old blog to the new one.
I noticed today that all my previously-transferred followers have disappeared from my self-hosted blog. Anyone who hasn’t followed me within the last couple of months has gone. They’re not on the WordPress.com blog either.
I assume they’re now gone for good, which is gutting. Is this because I set up the redirect, or is there some other error at work?
