Follow Custom Post Type

Hi! I’m trying to set up a multisite network with buddypress primarily for some friends that publish webcomics. The comics are a custom post type, and I was wondering if there would be any way to modify the plugin so that when you’re following someone, the only items that show up from their activity are the comics?
It took some tweaking to even have those posts show up in the general activity list at all, but now that I’ve got them showing up I just need a way to show ONLY that post type in the following feed. Any ideas? Thank you so much!
