• Hello together ??
I am very happy with the wp photo album plus but there is one thing i can’t handle.

i am the webmaster of a huge handball club and we have many photos in our gallery. all photos were uploaded at once via ftp in the correct folder structure.
after adding them via “import photos” into the database, all pictures are shown correct on the internet homepage.

now my question: if i would like to download the whole gallery database (to save them or give it to someone who stores it), is there a opportunity to do that?
i just connected to the ftp server, in opinion to download the wppa-admin folder (where i put the folders with pictures when i uploaded them), but when i clicked into wppa-admin, now there are only folders, no pictures.

    can you help me?

The depot is not an archive but a temporary place between ftp and import.

If you did not switch saving sourcefiles off ( see table IX-H ) you will find the originals in …/wp-content/uploads/wppa-source/album-nn

    hello.
    do you script the plugin?
do you think it is possible to bring a update? this is the only feature i am missing ??
i absolutely need it, otherwise i have to choose another plugin :(:(

Currently you can import a tree structure, only from the depot and the files need to be deleted after import.

You can also currently import from other locations in the filesystem, but only files from a folder, not complete folder trees. These files are not removed.

So i have to make it possible to not delete when importing a tree, either in the depot or outside the depot.

This is very complicated – due to server execution time restrictions – and i will only do this if it is a solution for you.
Besides, you should not change album names and/or parent album settings after initial import, to prevent duplicate albums.

Downloading using http ( normal downloading ) will not work because this requires the creation of a zipfile, and zipfiles are currently limited by php to 64 Mb. And there is also the execution time limit.

I did some research, and what i can do is supply a setting ( checkbox ) that makes the photofiles no longer being deleted from the depot during directory to album import. This means that you can use your depot ( usually .../wp-content/wppa-depot/{username}/ as the folder where all the originals stay, in the original folder structure, ready for download by ftp.

    hello jacob,
thank you for your time and help!
im sorry, i was in vacation!

i think you last idea is the best! that would be very helpful. so i will upload all photos via ftp in my depot folder in the correct folder structure. after that i only have to click import photos and the system will scan my depot and will add only new photos to the database ??

Ok, will be in 6.3.12. See Table IX-H17 ( when it is released and you have updated )
