Focus Keyphrase Issue

    Hi there,

    My targeted keyphrase is “best portable massage chairs” but if you noticed, Yoast does not take the first word “best” to its system.

    Is this new bug to the system?

  • Hi,

    Best is considered a function word. While people may use it as part of a search term, search engines, like Google, ignore function words most of the time. Function words tend to be very generic, like best, and are not helpful for determining whether or not the content of the page matches the search term. As such, certain content checks exclude function words to more closely mimic how a search engine will analyze your site.

    If the function word is critical for your focus keyphrase, please wrap the entire keyphrase in quotes like so “best portable massage chairs” and the plugin will take the entire phrase, including the function word, into account when analyzing the content.
