I have a list of Areas of Interest defined in my List in MailChimp.

I was thinking of having multiple Forms defined in the plugin and put Form1 in the Page1, Form2 in the Page2, etc…

I would like to have the Form1 with the Area of Interested already checked with Area1, Form2 with Area2, etc…

I saw that I can expose the field that I want in the form inside the plugin, but is there any way to have it checked without user intervention? I wouldn’t even show the field in the form, since it would be already selected….

    Great! It is now working!!

I am facing some other problem now. But I think this is only related to the MC itself, but if you could also help me I would appreciate it.

    See the following screen shot:
    https://prntscr.com/61h7sx

I can only see a drop down field called “SILO” that we are using to store the Areas of Interest. The problem is that the way it is defined as a drop down, we can only have one option selected.

I know I have defined “somehow and somewhere” a check box option for this, and it is called “Areas de Interesse” (plural), as we can see in the Edit Profile form

    https://prntscr.com/61haer

The blue box shows the check box version and the red box show the drop down version.

The problem is that in the List Merge Fields, the Checkbox version doesn’t show up….

Do you have any idea how can I fix this an only use the Check box version of this info??

I’ve tried to create a new list Test to see if I could create the Check box version of my Areas of Interest again, but as you can see here

    https://prntscr.com/61hdz6

There is no field options like “Checkbox”…..

I don’t remember how I’ve created the other one, but since I have created before, it should be possible to create it again…. ;-(

    I’ve found something:

It is possible to create the checkbox field, when we edit a Signup Form

    https://prntscr.com/61hdz6

But after we’ve created, it doesn’t appears in the Field List

    https://prntscr.com/61hj50

So if I can create it in the form, and include info via the Edit Preference (like I showed before) where are those info stored??

Have you already created a Check Box field that can be exposed via Fields and Merge CODES before??

    Regards.

    Still researching….

I found that the Checkbox fields that we can define at the Form Leve, can be used by List Segmentation when we start a Campaign :

    https://prntscr.com/61hp5p

The problem is that the way it is they can not be populated by the OSD Plugin, since this field is not listed in the Field & Merge Codes….

I am thinking of a solution (not the one I wanted, but I believe it will work).

Rename the Field that we can see “SILO” the dropdown to “Initial Area of Interest”. This way when I see a record in the Mailchimp UI I can see where it came from…

Then I MANUALLY add the user the Areas of Interest (multiple choice). Then I will have to rely on the user using the Edit Preferences form to add or remove areas from where they want to receive newsletter from…

Coming from an IT background I would rather have everything automated and not have to edit the recored manually…. But this is a solution.

If you could think of any other more automated solution, please let me know.

In your list go to: manage subscribers > groups

This is where you can have “checkboxes” mailchimp handles them in a special way and calls them groupings. I believe this is because the field is not a name => value situation. It is a name => array(value1, value2, …)

Having said that, no, we have not incorporated mailchimp Groupings into OSD MC forms. Since you have pointed it out I really think it needs to be.

I will definitely be adding this to the new release of OSD MC forms.

    GREAT!

I will go the manual route for now, and when you release a new version with this feature I switch the Automated route… ??

    Thanks and Regards,

Thank you for providing a usage scenario outside of what we use the plugin for here to help improve it as a good and usable plugin. The main reason we created it was to cover the short comings of the other free plugins.

    Thank you again – OSD
