Flickr photos

I would like to use photos on my blog from flickr. I know only some photos from flickr can be shared, but when I copy the url from the “share” option and put it in the “upload” dialog I get a red X next to the url box.
I have no idea why I can get the photo from flickr to link to my blog. Any ideas?
