I am testing the Flexible Shipping plugin in advance to purchasing. I am having issues with translating the shipping method titles.

For instance: I have a shipping method Home delivery which I use in different territories and want to translate in different languages. I do this in WPML -> String translation, I see here the following Strings:

    • Domain [flexible-shipping] Name [Home delivery] [String] Home delivery
    • Domain [admin_texts_woocommerce_shipping] Name [flexible_shipping_single5_shipping_method_title] [String] Home delivery

When I translate the first one a copy is made in the new language. This behaviour I have never seen before.

Even if I translate, no translation can be seen on the frontend.

Please advice on how translation should work and what I am doing wrong?

Yes I have, only that I do not use multi currency. We had that checkbox enabled, I disabled that and the translations now show up on the front end.

The issue remains that when I translate, extra strings are added in WPML. Why is this?

We will try to recreate the situation you described to find the cause. We will get back to you as soon as possible.

    Hi @lucas81,

Thanks for your patience. I have configured the WPML plugin on my stage site and when I navigate to WPML -> String translation and select:

    • Domain flexible-shipping Name Home delivery String Home delivery

and when I add a translation to it, the string is not being copied to a new language. The new translation is saved and the icon is changed from a plus to a pencil. My default language is English.

What’s more, I see the translation when I change the language on the front end to Polish or German.

I suspect it may be due to some WPML plugin setting in your store.

Could you check whether translating any string in another plugin will trigger the same behavior, i.e. copying the string in a new language?

    Regards,

    Wojtek

    Thanks for looking into it.

Only Flexible Shipping has this behaviour. I can contact WPML to see if they have any idea’s?

    @hi @lucas81,

Sure, reaching out to WPML might help and I believe it might shed some light on the situation.

    Kind regards,
    Luke
