Flash image uploader never works

hi Folks

wondering if anyone else has had issues with the Flash uploader in the WRITE console.

the editor has a button for uploading media, which i use for in-line graphics in my posts. it always opens as default “flash uploader”, but when I click the “add media” button, the flash uploader appears, but does nothing when I click the browse button. so I always go to the “browser uploader” instead. I’m using firefox 3.06, and a pretty new version of WP (2.62). same thing happens in IE7.

any ideas on this?
