Fixed width of 990px

  • I am trying to fix the width of my site (https://www.ijg-research.net/) to 990px, as the body of the site is this size based on the presentation page width. At the moment it looks ridiculous as the header and footer are 990+50px, and for the life of me I cant get this to change despite hours of pouring over the functions php files. Any ideas?
