fixed height to width ratio

Im wondering what css to use to :
– set an image to be a fixed height to width ratio.
– If height is too much, it is cropped and vertically centered.
– If height is too low, the image is increased in size to fit, with sides cropped.
– If the image is too small, is it increased to fit.
