    hi tobias,

currently using tablepress on a page with quite big tables – many columns and even more rows …

the actual ‘problem’ that is occuring is: when editing the tables in backend, the first column with the values are getting out of sight at a certain point as the table metabox moves horizontally – which makes it hard to fill the table; simply because often you dont see the first column any more, and then you really dont know where you are within the table. kind of pain in the ass scrolling back and forth continuously seeking where yoe are :/

question: ist there any way to fix the first column (or even better first row also) in the backend when editing tables? (similar as one can on frontend)

this would be a real problem solver!

    Hi,

thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

No, sorry, unfortunately, this is not possible on the “Edit” screen right now, due to how it works internally. ??
Sorry for not having better news here.

    Regards,
    Tobias

    hi tobias,

thanks for your answer, but no need to be sorry ??

simply wondering if i am the first ever experiencing this …?
maybe worth digging into it… tried with css to find a simple solution, but no way.

thanks anyway – maybe in the future-
    best regards.

    Hi,

no, you are not the first ??
But my JavaScript skills are just not good enough to make this work nicely…

And yes, maybe this is possible in the future, as I plan to rewrite the “Edit” screen, especially to make it faster for large tables.

    Best wishes,
    Tobias
