    Hi Tobias,

opening a new thread since this is a slightly different issue. I couldn’t get collapse mode to work properly, so I switched to fixed columns and responsive scroll. Now I’m getting an “odd” issue, where tablepress is expanding the width of an elementor inner section based on the true width of the table.

So, it seems like the scroll function simply maintains the table columns that overflow the viewport as if they were visible, but allows the user to scroll to view them.

The net effect is that all content in the associated inner section overflows as well – not the end of the world, but it looks sloppy.

Troubleshooting – when I suppress the table display, the problem goes away.

Workaround – the only thing I can think of is to put tablepress in its own inner section, but then content looks disjoint…

    Any thoughts on this?

    Thx

Note – I think this actually needs to be viewed on a mobile device to see the problem.

    Hi,

thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

There’s no need to combine Horizontal Scrolling with the FixedColumns, it’s basically embedded. Can you therefore please try with just FixedColumns?

Often, these issues stem from problems regarding properly calculating the table width, due to elements only being loaded as they are needed. This seems to be the case on this page, with elements flying in from left and right.

    Tobias

    Hi

Understood re the redundancy of scrolling and fixed columns. However, that’s not the problem. Nor are the other animations (fly-ins) an issue.
    – when I remove scrolling, I still have this issue.

when I remove the table altogether, there is no problem.

I think the issue is that TablePress is calculating its width based on the total number of columns – whether they are exposed (via scrolling) or not.

    Hi,

yes, the FixedColumns JS code is calculating the full table width, but it’s then usually hiding the extra ones. This process can sometimes be disturbed by complex CSS and layouts ?? Unfortunately, I don’t know a solution to this yet, but can only hope that future versions of the external FixedColumns JavaScript code fix this.

I see. I think my only option right now is to isolate the use of tablepress in its own section w/o a border or shadow. That’s less than ideal, since many tables need to be visually integrated with other content.

Hope you find a fix soon.
