    Hello WooCommerce Support Team,

I’m encountering an issue with fixed cart discounts when products from excluded categories are present in the cart.

    Here’s the situation:

    • I’ve created a coupon for a fixed cart discount (e.g., $10 off the total cart).
    • I’ve excluded a specific product category from this coupon.
    • However, if any product from the excluded category is in the cart, the coupon doesn’t apply at all, even if there are other products that are eligible.

It seems like WooCommerce is invalidating the entire coupon if any excluded product is present, instead of applying the discount to the eligible items in the cart. Is this the expected behavior, or is there a way to ensure that the discount applies to the eligible products only, while excluding the others?

I’m looking for a way to resolve this or a plugin recommendation that could help manage this more flexibly.

    Thank you for your help!

    Best regards,

    Hi @kukurbitak

In WooCommerce, when a coupon is set up with excluded categories, it will not be applied if any product from the excluded category is in the cart. This is the default behavior. This is different from percentage discounts, which can be selectively applied.

However, I understand your need for more flexibility. To achieve this, you need to consider using a plugin such as Advanced Coupons for WooCommerce, Smart Coupons for WooCommerce, or WooCommerce Dynamic Pricing and Discounts. These plugins offer more advanced and flexible options for discounts and coupons, including the ability to apply discounts only to eligible products, even if excluded products are in the cart.

I hope this helps! If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
