We were pleasantly surprised by this plugin, after our initial attempt to use the official Twitter widget. This widget offers a cache function, which they say makes page speed lightning fast. They are correct. Because there is no API call every time a user views the content of the widget (as is the case with the official plugin), it simply provides the most recent version from its cache. You can set the cache to any time increment (we’re using every 30 minutes).

Also, because this widget does not use JavaScript, our website visitors can have an active ad blocker installed and still see the content (again, not the case with the official Twitter plugin).

These two items alone were enough for me to give the plugin five stars. There are numerable customization features in the free edition, far more than we need. We are building our website to be clutter-free, and our resultant Twitter homepage widget follows that feel perfectly.
