    Whenever I activate the Image compressions, it adds a line of code to the background images specifically something like this:
    style="background-image: url(https://i1.wp.com/smithpope.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/IMG_0594.jpg?fit=540%2C405&ssl=1);

    That fit code on the main page in the Groom and Bride section totally destroys image quality. I’ve deactivated the Image compression for now, but I’d like to disable the background image “fit” line only, so that I can still use the compress setting for other images.

    Any ideas?

    How our image CDN resizes images sometimes, but rarely, interferes with how a theme resizes images.

    In this case, I recommend keeping “Speed up image load times” switched off.

    That is what I have tried to do, but every few days, JetPack just seems to turn image compression back on arbitrarily. I want to remove the code/block the code.

    I’m not seeing anything on our end that would cause it to continue to be switched on.

    Does it stay off after you upgrade to Jetpack 7.1.1?

    If not, try switching it off from All Modules view instead: https://jetpack.com/support/control-jetpacks-modules-on-one-page/

    So, this is not resolved. Not sure why wordpress marked it as such. Today, “Image Performance” was switched back on, all by itself. I have to manually turn it off about once a week. I’m fully upgraded.

    It’s possible that your theme has it defaulted to on, we do have a filter for that, and some include it.

    What is the name of the theme you’re using?

    It’s called Jack & Rose. I didn’t think it even comes with JetPack as default (I don’t remember the default), so I doubt the theme is turning it on. Not sure though.

    Hm, since that is a premium theme, we won’t be able to check directly.

    I recommend asking their support if the theme is forcing Photon’s API via any of the methods outlined at https://developer.wordpress.com/docs/photon/api/
