• Hi,

Installed and set up Ubuntu and WP yesterday. Basic install, but when I go to the start page (ip-address in browser) I just have the common index.html file displayed (‘Apache2 Ubuntu Default Page’), which Ubunto placed in /var/wwww/html – instead of the expected ‘Hello Word’ page.

Same if I add /?p=1 after the ip-address in the browser.

    TIA!

    Hans

  • delete the index.html page and then install wordpress in that folder.because wordpress have it own index.php page.

    Hi,

I will reinstall everything and revert to the forum, if I get the same error again.

    Thanks.

    Hi again,

All installed by the book, I think: (https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-install-wordpress-on-ubuntu-14-04) but same result as before!

If I go to the dashboard and make a small change and then save/publish, I get the ‘timeglass’ (the rotating dot in the circle) and nothing more happens.

Wonder about the /var/www/html directory. The owner is nobody:nogroup ?
    /var and /var/www are root:root
Files in /var/www/html seem normal as <username>:www-data.

Any help or clues will be very much appreciated!

    Thanks!
    /Hans
