Hi! I’m doing some research about all this OpenID stuff and it looks like what I need. I think your plugin might be the right solution but I don’t know how to configure it. Do you have any documentation with an example.
I’ve read that wordpress.com is an OpenID validator but I couldn’t know how to get all the information your plugin is requiring.
If wordpress.com doesn’t work, would you recommend any other platform to make it possible?
    Thanks!

@comunicacionabierta we have some documentation in our Wiki, that also includes some configuration instructions/resources for various IDPs(Identity Providers). I haven’t attempted to configure our plugin with WordPress.com but I could look into it and probably provide some instructions if it is possible.

@comunicacionabierta one thing to note is that if you want to be able to login to your WordPress site using WordPress.com you could just install JetPack which officially enables that functionality. If you are just looking at understanding OpenID Connect then there are a lot of other IDP solutions out there.

Thanks Tim! I’m really looking at understanding better OpenID as I think it’s the best solution for a project I’m working at: a network of distributed sites where the users don’t need to create a new user to enter in any of them.
I was also doing some research about ActivityPub but I think that has to do more with the content and conversation.
I think I really need OpenID so the users, whoever, can log in into a site with an identity from other place. I liked the idea of WordPress.com as the sites are made on WordPress. I wouldn’t like Google or Facebook for example. What would you recommend?

@comunicacionabierta so I’m not really finding much information on WordPress.com providing IDP services with OpenID Connect(OIDC). If you notice on our Wiki there are a number of IDPs listed, and I have personally tested and confirmed that our plugin works with those mentioned. That being said, our plugin should in theory with with any OIDC(OpenID Connect) compliant IDP(Identity Provider). Keycloak is an example where you can host your own IDP service. I have an instance of Keycloak that I test with that runs as a Docker container. The key in choosing an IDP comes down to what services are you already using that provide logins and can act as an IDP. No matter your choice, it is important to understand that when you use an IDP you are generally managing all of the users, including creating them and authorizing them with access to other services.
