First/Last Name Cannot Edit

I have searched for a reason in the support posts here and docs, but I cannot figure out why the First and Last Name (predefined fields) will not show on the profile page and cannot be edited.

I think part of the issue may be that I have the First and Last name showing at the top of the profile instead of the username. But I have included the First and Last name fields in the profile form and ensured it can be edited by the user.

I am having this issue on two different websites so I am fairly confident it is a setting or bug, but no clue what to do at this point.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!
