    Hello everyone!

I paid for a hosting package with BlueHost today, so this is all VERY new to me, but I had a question and was wondering if anyone could help me out.

My site is running extremely slow – much slower than my site on the wordpress.com end and I’m wondering why this could be. I tried installing another theme and there is no increase in speed, so I don’t think that’s the issue. I transferred everything over from my wordpress.com site and don’t have any plug-ins installed yet..

    My site is bonjourbeautyblog.com

If anyone could help I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you so much!

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

    Thank you for your help.

I deactivated all the plug-ins (I didn’t realize I had any) and it seems that the Jetpack plugin is causing slowness and causing photos not to load – isn’t this something I want to keep though due to all the extras?

Also, I’m trying to delete and re-upload everything, but for some reason it’s not working. In my FTP I’ve deleted all my uploads, but when I try to install the .xml file again it says all those files exist already. I don’t know what else I need to delete, I’m afraid I’ll delete a file that I need to keep. I’ve looked at instructions on how to delete and re-install WP completely, but I don’t fully understand them. ??

If you haven’t already done, always backup everything (including your database) before doing any actions, just in case something really goes wrong. It’s a great safety net.
