First Available Theme is empty/blank

  • I am installing the Twenty Eight Thirteen (Google Code Download) and when I initially upload the theme to the server (wp-content/themes/2813/) a new “space” is created in Manage Themes > Available Themes but it is blank. Looking at the source code an empty <td class="available-theme top left"></td> is created.

    I have figured out a work around, on my desktop I just renamed the theme folder to “z2813” uploaded that then the “fake” theme is occupying the blank cell and the “real” theme is pushed over and viewable. But I would like to know why this is happening.

    Anyone have any ideas?

  • Most likely, the theme creators haven’t included Screenshot.png in the theme. You should still be able to preview and select the theme. When I do my custom themes for my sites, I never include that file (laziness) but the themes work just fine.

    That was my first thought too, but no screenshot.png is definitely in there. Even if the screenshot wasn’t in there I would expect the title and description to display. In fact there is no html being produced for that table cell and nothing is there to select.

    hrmm, that is interesting. I wonder if the theme information is somehow malformed in that theme, which causes an error in the case where it is the first listed theme.

    Yeah, I think it must be something in the theme. I tested by removing all the 2813 themes and uploading a generic one from the WordPress theme directory and it displayed in that first spot just fine.

    I wonder if it has something to do with the fact that it was originally a WordPress.com theme?
