    We have tried everything, and this is the only hosting service we are having a problem setting this up under. Here is their tech support response:

    Hello client,

    I reviewed your case and tried several methods from the drop-down menu in order to activate the functionality, but to no avail. I even created a custom php.ini and added the following line of code:

    Code:
    auto_prepend_file = ‘/home/…/public_html/wordfence-waf.php’

    Unfortunately this also did not help resolving the problem. The warning is still displayed and I would recommend that contact the developers of the plugin and ask the for further assistance.

    If you need any other assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us again.

    Best Regards,

    We have also made sure the caching was off/cleared before and after we went through the options.

    Just FYI, the code path is not a real security hole. Here: /home/ipstenu/public_html/

    There’s no risk at all for this being public, other than a possible fear that I know your username now (so information disclosure). But. Unless you allow your user ID to access root (which you shouldn’t), or access other user folders on your server (which you shouldn’t), there’s nothing to fear here unless you have reason not to trust your host.

    Hello Cultivar Designs,
    we have documented problems with the setup for “Wordfence Web Application Firewall” on SiteGround and Hostgator and a fix for this is in the works. Unfortunately it’s not in the latest release but we are working on it as fast as we can.

    If the error message is simply that the Firewall could not complete setup you can just leave it until the fix is available. Wordfence will continue protecting your site it just wont be doing so as effectively as possible.

    Thank you for the speedy reply on your busy day.

    I think it would be helpful to have a message in the Firewall page that explains this issue. I would have saved 30 minutes of my time had I known it.

    I have just enabled WAF on 2 of my websites hosted on Siteground using this method:
    https://docs.wordfence.com/en/Web_Application_Firewall_Setup#SiteGround_and_other_hosts_without_.user.ini_support

    Kashif’s solution worked like a charm for me on SiteGround. Thanks for posting Kashif!

    I followed those instructions, but it didn’t fix the problem for me.
