FireFox developed site not working with IE

Could be a common problem – Any post pasted into WordPress from Word causes major problems in IE (not only the formatting of the post, but often messes up the menu bars and layout too.).

Could also be a coding problem. I’m having a problem with my site in thsi way – you can’t click on some of the header menu links or the post title links in IE, but there aren’t problems in other browsers. My site for work is https://www.cslewis.org/journal

Don’t know if you have the same problems, but maybe the Word thing is the cause, as it is the most common one.

We you are right about the Word bit.
The other problem may stem from inserting images. I will try some experiments aimed at getting to the bottom of the issue but please keep info coming.
Is this a WordPress flaw?
If I was using IE would Firefox have problems?

The Word part is mainly an IE flaw, since I rarely have problems in Firefox and Safari. One way to fix it is to go to html view in the post editor and delete all the Word related coding at the top of each post. When I did that, it fixed my site.

As for the coding issue, again, I think it is IE sensitivity to code that’s the culprit. On my site, I ran some validation tests and still have some code to fix, but I have yet to know whether my problem will be fixed.

In your case, if Word is the problem, look for coding with MSO in it on each post. It should be at the top of the post in html view.

I am having a similar problem. My header jpeg doesn’t show up in IE. I have tried posting this a few times, but each time, the topic gets marked “resolved”

Again: I am using the default theme, and my page is https://www.kelbournewoolens.com/blog/. I saved a new header image over the original kubrickheader.jpg and my image appears on some browsers, but not all. For example, it works on my macbook in safari and firefox, as well as an old pc that runs linux and firefox. It was tested on Internet Explorer on two different PCs and no image appeared, but did appear on the same computers on Firefox.

I asked the person on the PC using IE to view the page source and copy and paste the image code into a new browser window: https://www.kelbournewoolens.com/blog/wp-content/themes/default/images/kubrickheader.jpg and she said nothing happened, but that link leads to the header image on my computer.

In the general settings, I do not have anything written in the blog title or tagline.

I have also tried saving a new image name in place of the kubriheader.jpg and replacing the code with that name, but nothing there, either. The main website is built in dreamweaver, with all blog files saved within. Whenever I change anything, I update in the main wordpress page and “put” from dreamweaver.

Hmm… your image appears separately in IE (if you go to https://www.kelbournewoolens.com/blog/wp-content/themes/default/images/kubrickheader.jpg ) but not as part of your blog.

I really wish the majority of users didn’t use IE…

Thanks, Sundowner76, this seems to be the closest thing to getting anywhere that I have found. I don’t have time to look through the report right now, but I will take the time tonight and see if I get anywhere.

And, agreed, no one should use IE! I have had the blog up since October and had no idea there was even a problem until a co-worker said “you know, you should pay someone to work on your blog” as she uses IE and had never seen the header. (I don’t even have IE on my computer).
