    Dear Peter,

We are surprised not to see Firefox amongst the whitelisted bots.

Is there a reason for this?

    We only noticed it because:
    – we used Firefox to test whether your plugin was working.
    – we noticed a few blocked bots in the log with Mozilla, Gecko and Firefox in the description

Should we add firefox as a whitelisted bot?

I can confirm that for us the plugin is working, i.e. we use Litespeed and Cloudflare.

Many thanks for your help with this.

    Pieter

Hi Pieter, glad to help clarify how it works.

The plugin only traps bad bots (not human visitors).

Bad bots never actually use the Firefox browser (or any other browser) because they are simply scripts that make malicious requests, etc.

Real users that may use Firefox (or any other browser) are never blocked because they never see the hidden Blackhole link.

Thus there is no reason to whitelist any browser. Because only humans use them. And again, humans never are blocked.

I hope that helps. Let me know if anything isn’t clear.

    Hi Jeff,

    Many thanks for the explanation.

However, I noticed that Chrome is whitelisted.

Yes Google includes “chrome” in numerous user agents (for their web crawlers).
