• My site (vivanasenior.com) has a minimal custom navigation bar with images that reference a URL structure from a site that we migrated from (src=oldurl.com/images/…). I need to change the names of those images in the custom code to src=currentURL.com/images/. I can find the code in the source code of the page (CTRL+U) but I don’t know how to find it in the file structure and open it in an FTP client and then edit in an html editor like dreamweaver or even notepad. Any idea where I can find lines of specific code so that I can get to them and edit them?

    Thanks!

  • Hi, you have a nice site. Are you speaking about the six broken images just below this text: “FILTER BENEFITS BY CLICKING ON THE COLORED ICONS BELOW.”

If not, are you currently displaying the image bar anywhere? If not, could you arrange to display it on an out of the way, non memu page so that I can see what you are talking about?

Hey thanks. Yeah that’s the issue – the 6 images with broken links. They’re calling images from a site that we no longer use that we recently migrated content from.

    Thanks for the help!

Your site is built primarily around one page. The content for the 6 images will be on the one main page. There will be two pieces of information you will need to modify for each image. The first is the image path for the icon and second is the target for the location you will be taken to when you click on the icon.

The first step is logging into WordPress and adding all the icons to the media library if they are not already there. Then find the main page by opening Pages and choosing view for what you think might be the main page.

When you find the main page choose edit and find the first of the 6 empty boxes. Modify the link url to match the new url in the media library. Push Update and refresh the front page. You should see the icon. Do the same for the remaining 5 icons.

You will have to explain more about what should happen when you click on each of the icons before I can help you with what to do about that functionality.

Your theme is a premium (paid) theme called Frost. You should have access to the manual about how to use the theme and the ability to ask questions in their forum. If you don’t already know how to access these resources, you will probably want to find out how to get access.

Wow – thank you very much for the detailed instructions. I’ll try that tonight.

    Thanks again!

Ok, I think I found the page where the code resides – “Home”. Unfortunately, though, there’s no “Edit” button once I open up the page. Because it’s a custom piece of navigation, I’m not sure if that’s an issue.

    Thanks for any additional help.

I’m also OK going through an FTP client; is there a way to search for the bit of incorrect code through the WP dashboard and isolate its location that way, then edit it via FileZilla or something?

    Thanks!

The page you saw is likely your main page. This is the place where you want to make changes. FTP is not the tool for editing a page.

In your WordPress Dashboard, go to Pages. When you hover over Home, you will see Edit, Quick Edit, View and Trash. Choose Edit. If you do not know how to edit the page, refer to the documentation provided for your theme.

Your theme is a premium (paid) theme called Frost. You should have access to the manual about how to use the theme and the ability to ask questions in their forum. If you don’t already know how to access these resources, you will probably want to find out how to get access by following up where the theme was purchased.

I can ask questions in the theme’s forum, but because there’s custom code they won’t go as deep as they otherwise would. I can get to the “edit” section of the Home page, but there’s no code there.

I’m sorry but I have done all I can for you. I can tell you what to do with a normal WordPress page but obviously, your page isn’t normal. I don’t know what you are seeing and I don’t have access to your theme.
