Find URL of BigBlueButton server for MAC

    Hello,

    I’ve followed the steps and watched the video but I can’t find my URL as I am using a MAC and don’t have Putty. I tried looking in Terminal with the command

    find / -name bigbluebutton
    but didn’t return anything useful.

    Does anyone know how to find the URL on a MAC.

    Do you mean the URL (endpoint) of the BigBlueButton server?

    If that is what you mean you won’t find it in your wordpress development machine (nor production). The BigBlueButton server is a separated server where the users are sent to experience the actual conference.

    The plugin comes preconfigured with this one
    https://test-install.blindsidenetworks.com/bigbluebutton/

    So you don’t need to change it if you are only testing. For production you should have your own server. You’ll find the URL in that server by executing

    sudo bbb-conf –secret

    I was just trying to set it up to use, I teach singing classes and wanted the ability to teach group classes online and saw big blue button and it looks great.

    I downloaded the plugin for my website, does this mean the plugin is only to be used for testing?

    I’m not overly sure what a server is, I’m assuming I don’t have my own server as I run a small business with just one laptop.

    I’ve seen OS x server – could I use this?

    bit lost as to what to do next with the plugin.

    Sorry I did not come back earlier. this forum doesn’t have too much activity so I don’t come too often.

    And responding to your questions.

    The plugin is totally free. Free as in freedom and free as a beer. You can download it, install it and use it as much as you want/need. BUT, the plugin is only one variable in the equation. The second one is the BigBlueButton server. That is completely separated from the server where you host your WordPress.

    The plugin comes pre-configured to use a server provided for free (as a beer) by Blindside Networks which is called test-install, and yes, that is intended to be used only for testing.

    If you want to have your own server or private rooms (test-install is public and open) I would recommend you to look for commercial services provided by any of these companies.
