• I have been attempting to create an authors page in my new blog and have been unable to find out how to access the authors template within Twenty Ten.

    Been looking and investigating for a week. I have accessed the pages and page templates Codex and am at a loss at the moment to understand what I need to do to create author pages and a page for all of my authors.

    So I am less than a newbie, trying to get over the hump.

    I am comfortable in html, xhtml, css and modifing php for zen cart primarily, but am currently baffled by this.

    Can anyone help me?

    what do you mean? a LOG-IN widget?

    The Authors Template, author.php, is in the theme templates list when you enter “Editor” in the admin page if that is what you are referring to.

    Ok, so I got that.

    In the editor, how do you get the thing activated. It seems to have what I need, and if I copy and paste into a new page. It just shows me the code.

    I haven’t felt this stupid since first learning FORTRAN in college. It has been a while.

    Thanks for the assist.

    Do the following and “Author” will come up as a template option when you create a new page.

    In author.php add
    “Template Name: Author” to the top of the file as in the example below

    /**
     * Template Name: Author
     * The template for displaying Author Archive pages.
     *
     * @package WordPress
     * @subpackage Twenty_Ten
     * @since Twenty Ten 1.0
     */

    Is there a place I choose a template option other than under Page Attributes?

    Under

    Add New Page

    Page Attributes

    I am only getting 2 options:
    “Default Template”
    “One column, no sidebar”

    I did add the code.
