• Hi guys!

First of all I wanna thank the community here for being so active in responding to WordPress novices like me as well as the moderators for really cleaning up and organizing this amazing resource.

My dilemma is, with 200+ posts in different categories, I find it hard updating each and every post whenever I need to insert modifications in the text.

Is there a find and replace feature in WordPress that allows me to search for a certain text in all of my WordPress posts and replace them with something else? This is something very similar to Microsoft Word features but instead of a single document, I want the search to go through all my posts. Is this a plug-in or a default feature?

Thanks for your continued help, contributors!

  • It’s not a WordPress feature, but there are several good plugins you can use.
One is Search Regex, which will show you a preview of what will be changed, and then you can execute it or modify your request.

Thank you Joy for your detailed response as always. This looks like a solid plugin with 200k+ installations.

Thank you @joyously! I had been using Better Search Replace but this looks far better!

That looks really good too @bigmoxy that one has 1 million+ installs, wow!

While Better Search Replace may have more installs, it is really for the advanced user. I like the Search Regex plugin because it has more options and provides more information about potential database changes. Plugins of this nature are powerful and yet can be dangerous if not used cautiously.

PLEASE TAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR DATABASE BEFORE MAKING ANY DATABASE CHANGES.
