Finally, a GDPR plugin that meets my requirements!

I’ve settled on Complianz for my websites because it has these features I like. All of the other GDPR plugins I tried were missing at least one of these features that Complianz provides:

• There’s an actual link provided, that I can place where I want on the website, so visitors can view and change their cookie settings after passing the initial banner
• The setup includes a cookie scan of your website. Post-scan the wizard describes many of the found cookies — educational. The scan is important, for controlling cookies that come from OTHER than third-party tracking snippets.
• The configuration includes branding (color, wording of the cookie banner, etc.) — it conveniently offers to use your site logo as the image!
• It has BOXES in which you can paste your tracking snippets. No need to edit your functions.php.
• It’s free (but I did donate to the plugin)

It’s more detailed and full-featured than I decided my websites need, so it does take a little time to go through the entire wizard to configure your website’s GDPR features. However that doesn’t bother me because:

• There’s a side menu letting you skip to parts of the wizard of interest.
• Many of the questions are related to creating an optional privacy policy to post on your website, based on the cookies its scan finds. I can skip that part and give it the URL to my website’s custom privacy policy page.
• More questions are related to features I don’t understand about GDPR cookie law, which others may need or I may need in the future.
