filterPostie.php disappers

That’s an interesting one and I just tried it myself with the older version of Postie. The same thing happened on my installation. The normal plugin upgrade process won’t do that (I’m pretty sure anyways).

It was apparently the Postie Filter plugin that was upgraded as well and it did wipe out my copy of filterPostie.php. That’s weird but there may be something in the documentation that I’m missing. I don’t actually use that plugin myself…

It seems upgrade remove filterPostie.php and add filterPostie.php.sample

I was wrong and I just got confirmation: when you upgrade a plugin (or a theme) the old directory does get deleted. Any user created files that are in that directory such as filterPostie.php will get deleted too.

As Jan posted the WP upgrade process deletes the entire directory. So if you are trying to extend postie by using the “postie_post” filter you need to either put this code in your theme or your own separate plugin.

Wayne you may write it to filterPostie.php.sample too.

I don’t have any control over the upgrade process. WP core does it, not me.

Might I suggest you include instructions for the user on how to put that file in wp-content instead? That would prevent plugin updates from deleting that file and your plugin can check there for the existence of that filterPostie.php there.

Just to clarify… You say put the file into wp-content… Is it loading from /wp-content/ ? From /wp-content/plugins/ ? Or from either directory?

/wp-content/filterPostie.php

I put it on theme folder, now I move it.
