Filtering on dates to not leave open pages

Hi guys, really love this plugin, would like to use it on some of my other websites and go to Pro also, just have one small issue that I cannot seem to resolve, I hope you can help me out here.

When filtering a category, if a date isn’t close to 2018 or 2019, it leaves an open page and you will only find the post a few pages down like on page 4 because he date is 2012 for instance, how can I insure that all posts of a selected category flow run next to each other in descending date order.

On this topic, the filter button doesn’t stay selected, if I click on page 2 I have to reclick the filter button.

Are there any ways around these or where I would be able to edit the plugin to run like it should please?
