filter member directory by user meta

Hello again,

was looking on developer API info on site but did not find anything.
I would like to be able to filter the users who display in member directory based on a user meta.
It is easily possible to order and search by a user meta, but not to filter before they are displayed.
I need to display only users which have a specific meta in common with the logged user and make those searchable.

Any filter I can use via php?
