Filter HTML out of ICS Feed

The excerpt is used for the description. If the event doesn’t have an excerpt provided, it should use the content but first strip out any HTML.

However, it appears if you use HTML in the excerpt, then there’ll be HTML in the feed. Is that what you’re doing?

Hi Stephen. No. I’m not specifying an excerpt for the events at all, but the descriptions in the ICS all contain HTML.

The X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html should contain HTML. There was, however, a bug with this caused the feed to be invalidated on some validators/calendars. This has been fixed in 2.8.6.

Additionally, as noted if you are using HTML in your event’s excerpt, this too will cause HTML to be included in the feed (which will usually appear as text in the importing calendar, as noted by @jimmywags).

Lastly if a plug-in may append HTML. @jimmywags this is the case for you (I think a SEO plug-in).

This last two problems will be fixed in the next minor update.
