Filter for Gallery

  • Hi there,
    You’d think this would be straight foward and part of the Gallery block.
    What I’d like is to be able to allow the user to filter the media library by category (which I’ve added via a plugin) – this is to be done on the front end.
    ie: show the categories hierarchically :1st choice are the top level categories (say: Animal/Vegetable/Mineral) choose one (Animal) to get the next level down (Dogs/Cats/Cows/etc…..). At every point all the relevent media is visable.
    If anyone knows a way of doing this I’d be grateful for the details (I don’t code so an idiots guide please).

    Could you provide a little more details about what your vision is for your site? Is this for an ecommerce site? If so, there are several plugins in the repository, through WooCommerce, or premium ones available that will do this for you without having to write any code.
