Hello, can the author filter be added in a future update?

    Hello! Thanks for the idea.

I’ve been working (off and on) on a new plugin that would combine the Multisite Post Reader with my Multisite Media Display, so that one plugin would do both Posts and Media with a shortcode.

Not sure when it will get done – some revenue-producing projects keep getting in the way, but your idea of adding author options in the new version could be done.

I suspect it would be easiest to have an option that specified authors by their user ID number. A shortcode option with user/author ID number would allow the author name to change without affecting prior uses of the shortcodes.

Would that be sufficient, or do you see a need for the actual author name to be used in an option?

And, should there be an ‘author-exclude’ option – or would that not really be needed?

The new plugin would take the place of the old ones. I’d update the old ones so they still work, but an admin notice on the plugin settings page would alert you to the new plugin. This would allow current users to still use the current plugin, while allowing the new plugin to be used. Compatibility with the old plugin options would still be maintained, but the new plugin (since they old ones have a lot of common code) would be easier to maintain in the future.

I’d appreciate your thoughts. Thanks for the idea!

Thank you for the fast and detailed reply. I appreciate your help.

I believe the author ID would be enough, the same as for the ID’s of the subsites.

Since I have only one writer, other than myself, an exclude option wouldn’t be essential but for bigger networks, with multiple authors, the admins could just exclude themselves and see all the rest… so I think yes.

Sorry I have a second question:

My network has multiple domains and I wonder if the images could be shown in their original site path, instead of using the same domain for all the media.

I would use this feature to submit the best images in social media…

If you don’t see this as an essential feature, could you please tell me at least it would be possible so I can search for someone to make the tweak for me?

    Best regards!

    Sorry I’m back ??

Just installed Multisite Media Display and it’s the closest of what I need, If I use the edit shortcode, instead of display shortcode, it takes me to the specific site media library so I can take the real url from there.

But could be possible to use this with the display shortcode so I can open the image with only one click instead of two? ??

Best regards, I appreciate your work.

I’ll look into the actual path that is returned for the image link to see if it can be adjusted for the actual domain name of a sub-site (for a subsite that has it’s own domain name). Not sure how it the image URL is stored in the wp-posts table in those instances.

As for one-click to edit, that’s something that can be done. The link for the picture just needs to include the “&mode=edit ” parameter in the link. Good idea for the new combined plugin (media and post plugins combined into one).

I’ll stick it on the list.
