    Hello,

I have the very latest version of WP, WooCommerce and other plugins. I’m trying to add a product filter (Filter by Colour) on the product archive page but this filter block is not visible on the widget (I am not talking about the legacy version).

WooCommerce Blocks plugin is installed (and up to date), and I can add the block in question to regular pages. So it is visible there, but not visible in the widgets.

    Please could you advise?

    Thanks

Hi there – are you using the Blocks plugin specifically to try out beta versions of the upcoming blocks? If not, it’s best to remove the Blocks plugin. Stable blocks are bundled into WooCommerce core.

That you’re not able to edit the product archive is expected – this is a preset page, and adjustments to it will need to happen through the template file. Can you share a copy of your Status Report?

    Hi,

Thanks for your response. I am not trying to change any of the template files (or core files). All I want to do is, add a “Filter by Attribute” block into one of the sidebars – sorry I should have made this clearer. In my case, this filter would be colour.

As you will be aware, WP has changed the widgets to “blocks”, and currently I can only add legacy version of the “Filter by Blocks”. I am currently using WP 5.8.3 and WC 6.0.0 and there isn’t a filter by attribute block that I can add into my sidebar (other than the legacy version, but surely this is not the right way to go?).

So then I installed WooCommerce blocks with the hope that I could add filters into my sidebar, but I cannot. These filters are visible on pages, but not on the widgets.

Is this expected? And if so, how do you recommend people have attribute filters on their sidebars?

    Thanks

    Hey there,

Thanks for confirming that you have the latest version of the plugin. However, you don’t need the plugin for this kind of work – it just means you’re testing the beta version rather than the stable version that is rolled into the WooCommerce core plugin. It’s up to you which version you’d prefer to use, but I’d recommend removing the extra plugin and using the stable version.

To make sure we’re talking about the same thing, can you please share a link to the page that you’re trying to add the product filter to? That will let us try to replicate it from our end.

    Hi,
I’m currently working on a localhost, so unable to share a link. However, you can quite easily try this on a freshly installed WooCommerce.

    1) Create 3-4 product with attributes of size and colour, and generate all the variations.
    2) On product archive page, create a widget and add a colour filter. DO NOT use the legacy block.

You will see that, there is no option to create by using native blocks. You have to choose a legacy block or none. If you do have this option, please share a screenshot of your widget.

    Thanks

Thanks for sharing that with us @northwst ??

I took a closer look into this and the behaviour you shared is normal. The ‘Filter by Attribute’ block is only available for use within a page/post made with Gutenberg and not within the Block-based widgets area.

That said, we have made a feature request for our developers to consider adding this block to the widget area.

You can monitor that report to see what our developers have to say about this or see what progress it receives.

I hope that this helps ??
