    Hi!

I am using the latest version of both WordPress and Woocommerce, also regarding the plugins on the website.

Unfortunately I'm experiencing some issues with the Filter Attribute Widget, the built-in feature of Woocommerce.

I have placed it both on the homepage (above a products list widget) and in the sidebar on the other pages. The Filter function works well, but in desktop mode I have the issue of not being able to scroll the dropdown list when I open it. It is just stuck there at the top. I have attached a screenshot. The problem is both on the homepage and sidebar.

I have disabled all the plugins and checked for conflicts, but could not find any. The problem still persists. Any custom changes have been removed when checking for conflict.

By the way, I am using the default Storefront theme.

And as previously noted, the system is up to date in all aspects.

Tried to clear the cache and transients to no avail.

What could cause this? I think it started with some of the previous versions of either WordPress or Woocommerce.

Another question, would it be possible to place the Filter Attribute Widget in the Product Category pages ABOVE the products?

    Many thanks in advance,

    Have a good day.

    Best regards,
    Jonthe

  • Hey there! Thanks for contacting us. I’m happy to help you.

We did not get the screenshot link you mentioned, but I went to your website and I was not able to see the issue.

I was able to scroll to the bottom of both filters both on the homepage and on another page.

    Here’s a screenshot:

Have you tried different browsers/devices/internet connection?

Another question, would it be possible to place the Filter Attribute Widget in the Product Category pages ABOVE the products?

Do you mean you want to put them not on the side bar, but on the content part of the page?

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Have a wonderful day!

    Hi!

Many thanks for your reply, I really appreciate it.

Unfortunately I cannot scroll on either the homepage or category page, with the “mouse pointer” in desktop/laptop etc.

I have tried with different browsers and operating systems on several computers.

Which setup did you use for it to work? ?? Windows 11, Chrome browser?

I cannot “scroll”/drag the dropdown list, it just jumps back to the top before trying to scroll just a tiny bit.

Yes precisely, a lot of the customers cannot see the filtering option on the category page, since it displays below the products. I cannot use any shortcodes either in the “category description text”.

    Again, many thanks.

    Have a nice evening.

    Best regards,

    Jonthe

    Hey, @jonthepet!

Unfortunately I cannot scroll on either the homepage or category page, with the “mouse pointer” in desktop/laptop etc.

    Thank you for clarifying.

I was able to do it by using the mouse scroller, but once you mentioned this, I tried dragging the bar with the cursor, but it did not work.

Then I tried on my website and it did not work either. So I opened a bug report on GitHub. You can follow it there for updates, if you wish ??

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We will do our best to fix it as soon as possible.

We can’t specify a date when the bug will be fixed, it is still in progress. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you, and we thank you for your patience.

To move that you would need custom code.

While we can’t provide support for code customization as per our support policy, we do our best to offer advice and direct you to appropriate resources.

You can visit the WooCommerce Facebook group or the #developers channel of the WooCommerce Community Slack. We’re lucky to have a great community of open-source developers for WooCommerce, and many of our developers hang out there too.

I hope this was clarifying. Please let us know if there’s anything else we can do to help or if you have any questions.

    Have a wonderful day!

    Hi,

Thank you very much for confirming the issue, then I’m not alone with this “no scroll problem” at least, regarding the cursor that is. ??

Hoping for it to be resolved in the near future.

For the filtering above the products, I have moved the sidebar to the left column, but it is still being displayed below the products. Is the sidebar to the left supposed to stack the columns above the products in “mobile view”?

    Thanks again.

    Have a great day.

    Best regards,

Yes, Storefront is designed this way to have better responsiveness (imagine you have a long sidebar full of widgets, recent products, blog posts, advertisements, etc, then you’ll have to scroll a lot before seeing your product’s feed). However, you can fix the positioning with some CSS.

I hope this helps so far!

    Hi,

    Thanks for the info.

Yes precisely, that would ruin the experience in those cases. ??

I guess there is no feature to insert a filter widget into the “category description”?

    Hello Jonthe @jonthepet,

At the moment, there isn’t a built-in feature to insert a filter widget into the “Category Description”.

However, this can be achieved by using custom coding, which may require some technical knowledge. As my colleague had mentioned, this would require customization, which is out of our support scope.

In the meantime, you can check several plugins that allow you to add advanced filters to your WooCommerce store, such as the Product Filters for WooCommerce or YITH WooCommerce Ajax Product Filter.

    I hope this helps.
