I’m trying to figure something out. I understand that the plugin creates a duplicate file but converts it to webp. What happens if there are multiple uploaded files with the same name? Will the files that get served up potentially be the wrong files because they have the same webp name?

    Hi @344kellogg,

    Thank you for your message.

I don’t quite understand your question. How do you want to add two identical images to the Media Library? I mean the same file names.

Let’s say three months ago someone added a file called campus.jpg (I work with a school). We have hundreds of files. And someone decides, today, to upload a new file. They don’t go through all of the hundreds of files to see if one of them is already named campus.jpg and they upload a new file with that name. How does the plugin handle that?

@344kellogg It does the same as WordPress. The plugin converts images from the Media Library taking into account the path to the file and its name.

Ok. That makes sense. So in that example, even though the files have the same name, they would have different paths.

What if two people upload a file on the same day with the same name? How does the plugin handle that?

@344kellogg How will the WordPress Media Library handle it?
