• Hi

I am getting messages that the following files hae been updated in 5 WordPress installation running iThemes Security

    Files Changed
    wp-includes/functions.php
    wp-includes/version.php
    wp-includes/post.php
    update-core.php

Can anyone tell me if this is just iThemes Security just updating files. I dont have automatic updates on all WP installations. I have iThemes Security setup with all protections.

  • Hi @red001,

It could be possible that the iThemes Version Management is enabled. See this article for more information about iThemes Version Management.
    https://ithemes.com/2017/07/25/wordpress-version-management-update-ithemes-security/

Also if you want to check if your site isn’t compromised, I would suggest that you download the same version of the iThemes plugin from iThemes itself and compare it with the files that were changed.

I hope this would help you out.

    Appreciate the input but …

The Version Management module is only included in the premium Pro plugin.

Minor WordPress updates like 4.9.7 are automatically applied unless you have disabled core automatic updates.

Also the changed files listed are WordPress core files (not iTSec plugin files) …

So you should compare these changed WordPress core files with the ones included with the last WordPress version (4.9.7).

Anyway all 4 files listed are updated in WordPress 4.9.7. So don’t think there is anything to worry about …

thank you both, will take your comments and check
