Files Do Not Upload

  • We’ve had this problem with the regular GF file upload field as well. The form allows the uploads, shows successful uploads but no uploads actually occur. When we go to view the uploaded files they aren’t there. Just 404 errors when trying to view. Your plugin, same thing. Shows successful upload(s) then when we go to Entries / View and try to view the attachments there’s nothing there. Image uploads result in the ‘broken image’ display. Word docs simply don’t show anything. Even going to Media Library results in nothing.

    This site is running on Godaddy hosting which might trigger an instant remedy if it’s something in their configuration that’s preventing these uploads. Don’t know, just asking.

    In any event, we can not get anything to actually upload despite it stating the files have been uploaded. Ideas? Please advise. Thank you!

    I think the first thing i would do is ask for a copy of the server logs, and errors logs to see if there are any server errors when you try to upload a file using either the Gforms built in uploader or my plugin.

    My guess would be it’s a permissions issue on the server, Godaddy do tend to lock down their servers a little too tight which can prevent some default functionality.

    Godaddy’s server setup, for some odd reason, doesn’t automatically keep error logs. So we have to ‘activate’ it and then run repeated tests to see if the log generates any errors. Their support people have to do this since it’s not immediately available in the customer’s cpanel area (allow 24hrs for setup!).

    This is pretty strange behavior since normally if it can’t upload the file for some reason it would produce an error on the front end at time of submission. We get 100% success messages, see the attachments listed in the Entries area but when attempt to go there they do not exist.

    It appears that the problem was some errant path statements in the wp_options fields in the database that referred to a non-existent folder.
